New York City Protest Witness #1

February 15, 2003

Today's protest against the Bush Administration's war mongering brought one million people to the East Side of Manhattan.

Police did their best to prevent protestors from joining the sanctioned rally on First Ave, but we were undeterred and non-violently made our way through barricades and phalanxes of armed cops, many of whom were on horses.

We didn't give the cops many excuses to use force, but one protestor said the wrong thing. He was attacked by several policemen, forced to the ground, pushed on his face, cuffed and dragged into the subway with a bloody nose.
