Committee Reports
GreenTV
Tom renewed access privileges for GreenTV for another year. GreenTV will need to replace the primary camcorder in a year or two. Tom recommends we obtain a second camera as soon as possible. Tom estimated camera replacement costs at $700-$800. Used consumer grade digital camcorders will do if they meet a minimum specification for producing shows. Tom will bring the spec to the next meeting.
In order to lower production costs (time and tape), Tom will reduce the number of new shows he produces and rebroadcast shows from our growing library. Kathleen will also continue to produce new Green Tour of Michiana shows.
Lance suggested that GreenTV explore selling our shows to Free Speech TV. Tom said he would follow up with FSTV.
Kathleen will appeal to other locals to start their own shows. She will promote our library of shows at the next IGP CC meeting.
Tom proposed that we develop a plan to distribute the newspaper before ordering any. The proposal passed by consensus. There wasn't enough time to brainstorm ideas.
Ballot access
Kathleen and Lance separately talked to Rita Glen, at St. Joseph Co. Voter Registration, about CAN-19 forms. CAN-19 is the candidate petition form for ballot access. Indiana is revising the form, and a new one will be issued in 2006. Ms. Glen told Kathleen and Lance that the old CAN-19 forms will be accepted for the 2006 elections. However, we should stop using them as soon as the new forms are released.
Kathleen is scheduling July appearances in South Bend for Bill Stant, who is running for Secretary of State. Tom will put the appearances on the web site.
Old Business
Paddlefest
Kathleen will not be able to table at Paddlefest or bring her Newfoundland dog, which is always a big hit. Tabling is from 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM, Sunday, June 26. Lance and Tom will table, pass out and sell literature, and collect signatures for Bill Stant.
Fund raising ideas
Kathleen talked to a Chicago-based musician, who is willing to contribute a song for a CD and gave her a lead on a CD vendor.
Lance will contact Labor Studies people at IUSB and others re obtaining a rental free hall to hold a "smoker."
New Business
Educational meeting in August
Christine Fiordalis approached Kathleen re showing a Sierra Club produced DVD called "Kilowatt Ours" at a SJVGreens meeting. Tom explained he had told Christine the Greens used to hold two meetings per month, one for chapter business and the other for public and member education. Kathleen will talk to Christine about it.
Charter and bylaw revision
Liz and Tom have reviewed the charter and bylaws, and they propose changes to the documents. The documents are on Tom's laptop computer. Tom will arrange for a digital projector so we can read the proposed revisions together at the next few meetings. The plan is to review a few revisions at each meeting so we can avoid taking up a whole meeting or calling a special Congress to complete the update.
Closing: Kathleen adjourned the meeting at 9:00 PM.
Next meeting: Our next meeting is Thursday, July 14, 7:00 PM, in the Molloy Room at the St. Joseph Co. Public Library downtown South Bend.
