Call to Order
The SJVGreens met on Thursday, October 11, 2007, at the GLBT Resource Center in Mishawaka, IN. Karl Hardy called the meeting to order at 7:15 PM.

II. 1st District Tasks
A. Yard signs
Tom will examine, sort and count wire frames so we know how many we have and may need.
Since the signs - not yet printed - are generic, Tom suggested we make a separate sign with Kathleen's name to stake close to the generic sign to improve Kathleen's name recognition. Kathleen proposed we print a banner or skirt with her name to staple to the generic signs. We agreed to explore Kathleen's idea because it is less expensive and easier to produce and use.
The signs are not weatherized so there is no telling how they will stand up in use and whether they can be re-used.
B. Flyers
Tom says there are typically 25-30 houses per block in the 1st District. If a dozen volunteers in teams of two canvass one block per half hour, we can drop 720 flyers per hour.
12 volunteers x 30 houses x 2 half-hours = 720 houses per hour
720 houses x 2 hours = 1440 houses per weekend
1440 x 3 weekends = 4320 houses
In the 2006 general election, there were 1989 votes cast for Secretary of State in the 1st District. Therefore, in three weekends (6 hours) of canvassing we can reach more than double that figure.
III. Election Board
A. Poll watchers
Lance Howard plans to take poll worker training and work a poll on election day. Candidates are not allowed to watch polls so candidates will need to recruit poll watchers.
Bill Dugger volunteered. Robin Beck might volunteer.
B. Precinct selection
We did not discuss which polls to watch.
IV. Treasurer Report
Special savings - $1365.77
Political fund - $213.02
Share Draft - $86.89
V. GLBT Center
Richard ??? spoke to us about possible changes in the GLBT Center operation. Since the discussion was private, it will be reported on our Yahoo group list instead of here.
VI. Delegate Reports
Dave was in class so there is no St. Joe Valley Project report. Karl will post a report of the IGP Congress on our Yahoo group list.
VII. Adjournment
Karl adjourned the meeting a 10:20 PM.
VIII. Next Meeting
The next monthly SJVGreens meeting is Thursday, November 15, at the GLBT Resource Center, Mishawaka, IN. The meeting begins at 7:00 pm and ends at 9:00 pm. We will disect the electoral action and prepare for our next Congress.
Our monthly meeting is ordinarily on the 2nd Thursday. However, the November meeting will be on the 3rd Thursday.
